Charlie Finch on the 4th of July

we live in an America which is more restrictive and controlling than ever, where the elites of all stripes tell us what to do while bleeding us dry, where much of the culture is junk, memories are extinguished and deligitimized, joy is watered down into grim satisfaction, victimhood reified and the stupid exalted, be there "liberal", "conservative" or just plain clueless...In such an American world, we are lucky to know each other and still able to pass around among us the acorn of liberty which was, in the land of our forebears, a mighty oak... Happy 4th in the anticipation of a more open road and a free, expansive sky of red, white and blue.
