Tim McFarlane is Making the Rounds
Artist Tim McFarlane has been making studio visits lately and documenting what he sees. I found out about his project when he came to my studio and brought along his camera.
He's doing a really great job photographing and talking about the work of local artists on his blog initforlife. This is important work since the traditional media misses large swatches of local color. And no one does it quite the way Tim does. His way of shooting artists in their studios reminds me of the photo essays that used to be a big part of major magazines like Life and Time. Video has been used more than photography recently for this kind of work, but when done well still photograph tells the story too. Scroll through his blog pages over the last few months to find the various studio visits.
Above is one of Tim's recent paintings shot in his own studio.
